It’s ideal for apparel decorators and print shops making shirts, mugs, tumblers, mouse pads, and more.
Prepare your artwork at final size and high resolution, ensuring clean spacing and sharp detail. Because the printable width is 43 inches, you can design wide layouts filled with multiple graphics and order only the sheet length your job requires. For cotton or dark garments, we recommend DTF transfers as a better print solution.

Every DIY Printz sublimation transfer is printed and ready to press. Follow these four steps for vibrant, permanent results on polyester and poly-coated substrates.
Pre-press your blank for 5–10 seconds at 385°F to remove moisture and wrinkles. For apparel, press the garment flat. For hard goods like mugs or metal blanks, preheat to ensure even ink transfer.
Position the sublimation transfer face down on your substrate. The printed side must touch the polyester or poly-coated surface. Use heat-resistant tape to secure the edges and prevent shifting during pressing.
Apparel: Press at 385°F–400°F for 45–60 seconds with firm pressure. Hard goods: Follow substrate-specific time and temperature (mugs ~3–4 min, metal ~60–90 sec). Remove the transfer paper immediately after pressing (hot peel).
Peel the transfer paper away while still hot. The ink is now permanently infused into the substrate — no additional pressing needed. For apparel, wash inside out in cold water and tumble dry on low. Sublimation prints will not crack, peel, or fade.

What you can sublimate and how to get the best results from your transfers.
Sublimation works on any substrate that is polyester or has a poly-coating. Common products include:
Sublimation does not work on 100% cotton, dark fabrics, or uncoated surfaces.
Settings vary by substrate. Always preheat your blank before pressing.
Polyester Apparel: 385°F–400°F for 45–60 seconds, firm pressure, hot peel.
Mugs & Tumblers: 385°F–400°F for 3–4 minutes in a mug press, hot peel.
Metal Blanks: 400°F for 60–90 seconds, firm pressure, hot peel.
Mouse Pads & Puzzles: 385°F–400°F for 45–60 seconds, medium-firm pressure, hot peel.
Always test press a sample first when working with a new substrate.
For best results, upload a PNG at 300 DPI with the exact dimensions you want printed. We also accept JPG, PDF, and AI files. Sublimation reproduces color very accurately, so make sure your artwork colors are what you want in the final product. Remember — there is no white ink in sublimation, so any white areas in your design will be the color of the substrate.
Sublimation ink turns into gas and permanently infuses into polyester/poly-coated substrates — producing a smooth, no-texture print with no raised edges. It only works on white or light polyester and poly-coated surfaces.
DTF (Direct to Film) uses adhesive film that bonds to virtually any fabric including cotton and dark garments. DTF sits on top of the fabric, while sublimation becomes part of it.
Choose sublimation for polyester apparel, drinkware, and hard goods. Choose DTF for cotton, dark garments, and mixed fabrics.
Common causes:
Ensure your substrate is polyester or poly-coated and press at the correct time and temperature for your specific product.
How to care for sublimated products and how to reach the DIY Printz team.
Because the ink is embedded into the material, sublimation prints are extremely durable. They will not crack, peel, or fade with normal use and washing. For apparel, wash inside out in cold water, use mild detergent, avoid bleach, and tumble dry on low.
Store your sublimation transfers flat in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and humidity. Do not fold or crease the paper. Moisture can affect ink transfer quality, so keep them sealed until you are ready to press.
