How to cut & press your gang sheet

Your gang sheet arrives as one 22" wide film: printed, powdered and cured. Cut your designs apart, then press each one with the settings for your fabric.

Finishing press: cover with parchment and press 5 sec at the same temperature.

Lower heat on polyester. Too much heat can pull garment dye into the transfer (dye migration). Cold peel reduces that risk.

Step by step

  1. 01

    Cut apart

    Cut each design off the sheet, leaving a small clear border (about 1/8"). Remove registration strips and order ID marks.

  2. 02

    Pre-press

    Press the blank garment 3–5 seconds to remove moisture and wrinkles.

  3. 03

    Position

    Place the transfer white side down, image facing up. Use heat tape to hold it if needed.

  4. 04

    Press

    Press with the temperature, time and pressure for your fabric above.

  5. 05

    Peel

    Peel smooth and steady: hot right away, or cold after about 60 seconds.

  6. 06

    Finish

    Cover with parchment or a Teflon sheet and press 5 more seconds for durability.

Pressing a full sheet of designs?

Cut and press one design at a time. Anything left around the artwork, like extra film, registration strips or order IDs, can bond to the garment. Keep cut transfers flat in a cool, dry place until you press them.

Film didn't release clean?

Lay the film back down in place, press again for a few seconds, then peel again. Use a heat press — household irons can't hold consistent heat or pressure.

Wash & care

  • Wait 24 hrs to wash

All sheets are 22 inches wide. Pick a length from 1 FT (12") to 10 FT, or a 15, 20 or 30 FT roll.

My file doesn't match a standard size. What do I do?

Order our gang sheet by the inch and set the exact length of your file, 12" minimum.

Do you resize or fix my file?

No. This is a print-only service, so we print your file exactly as submitted. Files that need resizing or layout changes can miss the same-day cutoff.

What file should I upload?

A PNG with a transparent background or a PDF, at 300 DPI and built at the final print size. Leave about 0.35" between designs.

What are the cutoff times for same day printing?

DIY Printz offers two same day cutoffs. Shipped orders must be placed before 1 PM ET to ship the same business day via UPS Ground. Local pickup orders can be placed until 5 PM ET and picked up the same day from our Davie, FL location. Orders placed after cutoff are produced the next business day.

Do you charge extra for same day or rush printing?

No. DIY Printz prints every qualifying order the same day at no extra rush fee. If your order is placed before the cutoff with print-ready artwork, it is produced the same business day as part of our standard workflow. No hidden charges, no rush surcharges.

DTF (Direct to Film) transfers are full-color designs printed onto a special film with adhesive powder. You apply them to garments using a heat press at 300°F–325°F for 10–15 seconds. They work on cotton, polyester, blends, nylon, denim, leather, and more — no weeding, no vinyl cutting, and no pretreatment required.

What are UV DTF transfers?

UV DTF transfers are peel-and-stick decals designed for hard surfaces like tumblers, phone cases, wood, glass, metal, acrylic, and more. No heat press is needed — just peel the backing, apply, and press firmly. They produce vibrant, full-color results with a scratch-resistant glossy finish.

What file format should I upload?

PNG with a transparent background at 300 DPI gives the best results. We also accept JPG, PDF, SVG, and AI files. For gang sheets, use our Auto Gang Sheet Builder to arrange your designs. Low-resolution files or artwork without transparency may affect print quality or require adjustments.

What is a gang sheet and how does it save me money?
