DTF Halftone Generator

DIY Halftone DTF App

DIY Halftone is a DTF halftone generator by Dimelo 2Live that converts artwork into DTF print-ready halftone files with a live shirt preview and exports a transparent PNG ready for production—without Photoshop.

Upload your artwork, dial in the halftone look, preview it instantly on a shirt, and export clean transparency. Built to address real DTF issues like muddy fades, halos, speckling, moiré, and inconsistent dot behavior.

Live shirt preview Transparent PNG export DTF-focused controls

How DIY Halftone works

  1. Upload artwork (common image formats supported).
  2. Select a DTF preset (Black / White / Custom).
  3. Set output size (DPI + inches) or use Match to Artwork (Auto).
  4. Adjust LPI, dot type, dot growth, and screening angles.
  5. Preview in Original / Shirt / Alpha / Mask.
  6. Use Knockout + Hard Alpha Cutoff for clean transparency.
  7. Export a transparent PNG ready for DTF printing.

What this app helps you do

  • Generate DTF-ready halftones using a live preview workflow.
  • Set true output size for production accuracy (DPI + inches).
  • Control halftone screening (LPI, dot type, min/max dot, micro-dot behavior).
  • Reduce moiré with Multi-Angle screening when needed.
  • Clean edges and prevent halos with knockout and alpha controls designed for DTF.

It generates DTF print-ready halftone artwork with a clean transparency workflow (Alpha/Mask views + clean export intent).

No. This is built specifically so you can create professional halftones without Photoshop while still controlling the details that matter for DTF (LPI, dot behavior, choke, angles).

The app guidance reflects a common DTF range: 35–55 LPI as a practical starting point (higher = finer dots).

Use Choke/Threshold, Min Dot, and Micro Dot Fade to control when tiny dots appear and to keep highlights clean.

Multi-Angle blends multiple screen angles to reduce moiré and improve smooth fades—especially helpful on repeating textures or tight dot patterns.

Turn on Knockout, use Background Only (recommended), then adjust Tolerance and Feather for clean, production-safe fades into transparency.

Use Hard Alpha Cutoff to remove semi-transparent edge pixels that can cause halos in DTF printing.

DTF can print heavier than expected; that’s why the app includes DTF Pop / Anti-Mud plus highlight/grays boosting to keep halftones vivid and clean.

Yes set DPI + width/height in inches, or use Match to Artwork (Auto) to pull the correct size from your loaded artwork at the current DPI.

Use Artwork Rotation it updates both preview and export so your final file is correct.
